Some General Info
Entering the Races
Entering the races depends on what breeds you have, currently only Horses, Dogs and Rabbits can race.
Easiest way to enter is to click on your breed on the first page, this gives you a list of all tracks for that breed, then look at the "Next Race" column to see which tracks have upcoming races.
Click on the Track's name to see the list of upcoming races on that track, if you click on a race that's already been run you will see a "Lineup for this Race" list of results.
If it hasn't run yet it will say "To enter an animal in this race start by Selecting a Pasture." and a list of your pastures as well as "All Eligible Animals" option. From here it's pretty much like the shows to enter animals.
Stamina
Longer races can kill your animals, the lower their condition the more likely it is to happen.
In racing the stamina is used first along with a small amount of condition, this means an animal that is raced needs to see the vet after each race to stay in top condition.
Some animals have a natural instinct toward racing, they have a High Stamina and do well in races, also their vet bills will be less as they will lose little or no Condition when racing.
If the stamina runs out the animal starts to loose condition quickly and also slows down from a run to a trot.
If the animals runs out of stamina and condition then you have run it into the ground and it dies.
And the longer the track, the more Stamina and Condition they will need, and the more they will loose.
Next time they race look at how long the track is and how much condition they lost, if they are very low on condition after the race I would recommend not racing them or racing on a shorter track.
Racing's Monetary Matters
Making Money
The owner of a track gets paid a lease fee anytime someone organizes a race on their track.
The Race Organizer and any Sponsors split part of the race entries.
The 50/50 means that 50% of the race entry fees go to the purse and 50% to the Organizer/Sponsors.
GCRC Standard is 75% of entry fee goes to Purse and 25% goes to the Organizer/Sponsors.
The G.C.R.C. Standard purse distribution is 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 11% to third, 6% to fourth and 3% to fifth.
